The AKM22E-ACBNR-01 is one of the several AKM series of asynchronous servomotors from Kollmorgen. The manufacturer has several types of motors to its credit that meet almost any requirement. The device is fitted with straight connectors at cable ends. The housing of the unit must be cleaned only with isopropanol or a similar cleaning agent when it gets dirty. The device can be stored for any length of time between a temperature range of -25°C to +55°C inside the manufacturer’s original recyclable packaging. The commutation of the brushless DC motor is performed electronically because of the lack of brushes. The unit is available with a one-year warranty period.

The bearings of the device have a lifespan of 20,000 hours. The motor has a rotor length of 2, a winding type of E and a flange size of 2 or 58mm that is designed according to IEC specifications. The unit encompasses a keyway type of shaft as per DIN748 and comes with a shaft seal. It is fitted with a nameplate that provides details such as the type of motor, standstill current, standstill torque, mains voltage, winding resistance and more. The device must operate along with a matching digital servo amplifier. Care must be taken to avoid shocks during transport of the motor.

The power and control cables must be kept at a distance of more than 20cm from each other. The cables must be capable of carrying heavy currents. The site of installation of the motor must be free of aggressive and conductive material. The EMC shielding and earthing must be done according to the installation instructions for the servo amplifier and the motor chokes must be installed close to the servo amplifier.
