Product Description:
The T40m operator terminal is produced by Kollmorgen as part of the AKI Interface Panels series. Designed as a human-machine interface, the unit mounts on machinery enclosures and presents process data to operators while forwarding touch or keypad commands to the controlling PLC. By integrating a small display and multiple communication ports, the panel simplifies local monitoring, recipe selection, and manual overrides in packaging lines, material-handling cells, and other automated equipment where compact visualization is required.
The visualization hardware is based on a 3.5 in diagonal display that uses a TFT-LCD matrix for clear contrast and fast refresh. Image detail is rendered at 320 x 240 pixels, a quarter-VGA format that balances readability with low memory consumption in embedded projects. The panel can present monochrome images because the controller supports 16 grayscale levels, which are sufficient to differentiate status icons, trend lines, and alarm banners. Internal electronics are energized from a single 24 V DC supply, allowing the interface panel to share the same low-voltage power rail used by sensors, relays, and other cabinet devices.
Machine connectivity is handled through several integrated ports. An RS-232 channel provides point-to-point links to legacy drives or micro-PLCs, while the multidrop RS-422/RS-485 port supports longer cables and networked node addressing. For higher-level integration, the panel includes built-in Ethernet, allowing parameter pages to be accessed from supervisory systems over standard TCP/IP. Local data import and system updates are possible through a front-accessible USB host connector that accepts flash media. These interfaces allow the terminal to bridge shop-floor equipment with plant information networks without external gateways or protocol converters.
