Kollmorgen developed the AKI-CDB-MOD-12T for the AKI Interface Panels series. This human-machine interface mounts on machinery to present process data and accept operator input without exposing the control cabinet. By consolidating graphical visualization, alarm acknowledgment, and recipe editing in one housing, it removes the need for separate push-button stations and simplifies troubleshooting on automated production lines.

Visual performance is supported by a 12.1-inch TFT display with a native resolution of 1280 × 800 pixels and an active area measuring 261.12 × 163.2 mm. The panel renders up to 262,000 colors, allowing clear differentiation of status icons and alarm indicators on complex process diagrams. A resistive touch screen registers commands even when users wear thin work gloves, supporting press-and-hold and drag gestures used in modern SCADA layouts. Behind the display, an Intel Atom processor works with 1 GB of RAM to execute scripting, protocol conversion, and local trending without overloading the connected PLC. The available pixel density, color depth, touch input, and embedded processing support responsive interaction in high-cycle production environments.

Two Ethernet interfaces provide one 10/100/1000 Mbit/s connection and one 10/100 Mbit/s connection, permitting separation of plant networks from drive-level traffic. Legacy equipment can be integrated through COM1 and COM3 RS-232 ports and COM2 and COM4 RS-422/485 ports. Three USB 2.0 host ports provide 500 mA each for data-logging drives or input peripherals. The panel draws 22 W from a +24 V DC supply, allowing it to share the low-voltage rail commonly available in control cabinets. Its glass front has an IP65 rating, while the rear has an IP20 rating. This arrangement allows the display to face washdown areas while the rear electronics remain protected within standard enclosure space.
