The 65WKS-M310/6-PB is an analog servo amplifier built by Kollmorgen within the 60WKS Analog Servo Amplifiers series. It conditions DC-link energy for four-quadrant control of brushed or brushless servomotors used in positioning tables, indexing drives, and similar automation axes. By regulating armature current, the unit converts a fixed 310 V DC bus into a bidirectional, speed-proportional output that allows tight velocity and torque control across the load range.
The continuous armature limit is 6 A, while momentary load surges can reach 15 A for rapid acceleration. Energy returned during deceleration is absorbed by an internal ballast that dissipates 200 W continuously and withstands pulses up to 5.4 kW; this helps keep the DC bus below the ballast switch-off threshold of 365 V. Current is regulated by a loop with a bandwidth of 1 kHz, provided the connected motor inductance is at least 5 mH. The amplifier draws 1.3 kVA from the mains through an upstream supply module and drops 4.5 V across its output stage at rated current, which helps limit additional heating. Its aluminum chassis measures 220 × 233.4 × 60 mm, allowing cabinet installation beside other drive electronics without exceeding standard rack depth.
An internal logic clock of 8.6 kHz sets the output stage switching frequency, limiting ripple while staying above the current-loop crossover. At rated load, the electronics release 50 W of internal heat, so panel airflow must handle this steady dissipation. The brake chopper closes when the DC bus rises to 385 V and reopens at 410 V, providing hysteresis that avoids rapid cycling during regenerative events. Overall installed mass is 2 kg, keeping the drive light enough for DIN rail or direct plate mounting without additional supports. Its 220 × 233.4 mm face also simplifies access to signal plugs and test points.
