The 65WKS-M310/3-PB is an analog servo amplifier manufactured by Kollmorgen for the 60WKS Analog Servo Amplifiers series. It converts command signals from a motion controller into controlled armature current and voltage, allowing precise torque, velocity, and position regulation of DC servomotors in industrial automation cells, gantry stages, and material-handling axes. The amplifier sustains a continuous four-quadrant output of 3 A, so the connected motor can operate or regenerate without derating under nominal load.
Short acceleration bursts are supported by a 7.5 A peak output capability that lasts until thermal limits are reached. A current-loop bandwidth of 1 kHz lets the control circuitry respond rapidly to load disturbances, minimizing following error during high-speed indexing tasks. Internal power is derived from a DC link held at 310 V; this bus voltage can drive 230 V-class motors while keeping conduction losses moderate. To protect the energy-storage capacitors and motor insulation, the unit disconnects when the bus voltage rises to 410 V, preventing uncontrolled overvoltage during regenerative events or power surges.
Dynamic braking energy is routed to an onboard ballast resistor that can dissipate 200 W continuously and withstand pulses up to 5.4 kW during rapid deceleration. The output stage switches at 8.6 kHz, placing switching artifacts above most mechanical resonance frequencies and reducing current ripple. The amplifier requires a minimum motor inductance of 8 mH; windings with lower inductance could draw excessive rates of current change and stress the transistors. At rated current, the amplifier dissipates 35 W as heat, while its quiescent power dissipation is 12 W.
