The 60WKS-M240/26-PB analog servo amplifier is produced by Kollmorgen for the 60WKS Analog Servo Amplifiers series. It conditions a fixed DC bus into a bidirectional motor current, giving motion controllers a linear power stage for torque control in industrial robots, pick-and-place cells, and packaging machines. By combining high-speed current regulation with regenerative ballast circuitry, the module supports rapid load reversals while protecting the DC link.
The amplifier’s current loop bandwidth reaches 1 kHz, so commanded torque steps settle in under one millisecond. A pulse-width-modulated output stage running at 8.5 kHz minimizes current ripple and audible noise. During acceleration, the unit can source 50 A for short intervals, and energy returned during deceleration is absorbed by the integrated ballast network. That network dissipates 135 W continuously and handles regenerative pulses up to 5.4 kW without exceeding its thermal limit. Regeneration begins diverting power when the DC bus rises to 300 V and ceases at 285 V, while an independent overvoltage trip at 325 V safeguards capacitors and semiconductors. Motors with at least 0.6 mH of phase inductance meet the amplifier’s ripple criterion, and a rated bus of 240 V experiences only a 5 V drop at the nominal current, preserving commanded torque.
During steady-state production, the amplifier supplies a continuous current of 26 A, and internal thermal models size the heat sink for a loss of 170 W at that load. Standby electronics draw 12 W, so cabinet ventilation can slow when axes are idle. Power distribution equipment must support 4.4 kVA of apparent power to cover charging and fault ride-through. All functionality is contained in a frame measuring 220 × 233.4 × 45 mm, enabling dense side-by-side mounting on panel rails without exceeding standard enclosure depths.
