Product Description:

The 60WKS-M240/22 is an analog servo amplifier built by Kollmorgen within the 60WKS Analog Servo Amplifiers series. The unit conditions ±10 V velocity or torque commands and supplies regulated four-quadrant current to a matched servomotor. This capability allows automation controllers to manage rapid forward and reverse cycles without mechanical relays. By translating low-level setpoints into high-power drive signals, the amplifier forms the interface between motion PLCs and rotary or linear motors used on packaging lines, pick-and-place axes, and similar equipment.

The power section accepts a three-phase line ranging from 60 to 172 VAC at 50–60 Hz, and three 20 A fuses provide branch protection. Its internal rectifier produces a 240 VDC link, while an overvoltage trip disconnects the power stage at 325 V to protect downstream devices. The rated four-quadrant output current is 22 A, and the voltage drop across the output transistors is limited to 5 V at this current. The output transistors switch at 8.5 kHz, while the closed-loop current regulator provides a bandwidth of 1 kHz for responsive torque control. The ±10 V command port has an input resistance of 150 kΩ, which prevents the amplifier from placing a heavy load on upstream controllers. Quiescent power dissipation is 12 W when the amplifier is enabled without a connected load.

During brief acceleration periods, the drive can deliver up to 50 A to help the motor overcome static friction and accelerate demanding loads. Continuous thermal loss at full load is 140 W, so cabinet airflow must remove the heat generated during sustained operation. The amplifier has an installed apparent-power load of 3.7 kVA, which must be considered when sizing the electrical supply and distribution components. Compatible motor windings must have an inductance of at least 0.7 mH to prevent excessive current ripple at the switching output. This minimum inductance still permits operation with responsive, low-inertia servomotors used for rapid positioning and reversing movements.
