The 30.Z1.C05-1000 is a sine-wave electromagnetic compatibility filter produced by KEB as part of the Z1 Sine Wave EMC Filters series. Installed on the motor side of a variable-frequency drive, the device attenuates high-frequency switching components and limits differential as well as common-mode noise. By providing a clean sinusoidal voltage to the machine, the filter minimizes bearing currents, extends cable reach, and helps downstream equipment comply with conducted-emission limits in large automation lines. This type of output conditioning is especially useful on long motor leads, where steep inverter pulses can place added stress on motor insulation and connected equipment.
Electrically, the filter is intended for 60 Hz systems and connects to inverter outputs delivering a rated line-to-line voltage of 480 V. It tolerates supply excursions down to 432 V and up to 528 V without derating, allowing operation on grids where voltage varies. The copper busbars can conduct a continuous phase current of 400 A, corresponding to drive systems that supply as much as 400 hp to the motor shaft. Total harmonic distortion of the input current remains at or below 8%, helping limit distortion on the connected power system. Under full load, the internal inductors and capacitors dissipate 3580 W, so forced-air cooling inside the enclosure or cabinet is required to maintain stable operating temperature.
The cable lugs are clamped to the aluminum blocks with a terminal torque of 60 Nm, helping maintain stable electrical contact during high-current transients. The filter carries a protection rating of IP20, so it must be mounted inside a controlled cabinet where larger objects and direct moisture cannot reach live parts. Ambient operation is permissible from -10 °C to 50 °C; inside this range, the inductive components meet insulation-class requirements without additional derating. Because the unit is intended for cabinet installation rather than exposed field mounting, enclosure space and airflow around the assembly should be kept clear during layout.
