Product Description:
The 28.Z1.C04-1000 is a sine wave electromagnetic compatibility filter produced by KEB within the Z1 Sine Wave EMC Filters series. Installed downstream of a PWM inverter and ahead of the motor, it smooths the steep voltage edges that generate radio-frequency interference, protects insulation, and reduces bearing currents in large industrial drives. By converting the inverter’s chopped waveform into a clean sinusoid, it helps machines that operate on long motor cables meet EMC limits while lowering audible noise and extending motor service life in continuous production environments.
The filter is designed for mains grids up to 400 V and supports drive systems with an apparent power of 200 kW. At this voltage, it can carry a continuous line current of 390 A without derating, and it remains compatible with supply frequencies of 50/60 Hz, allowing use on global utility networks. The enclosure has an IP20 rating, which blocks accidental contact with live parts but requires cabinet installation. The filter is intended for control-room installations with moderate temperature, condensation, and dust levels. A normally closed thermal contact is provided so the upstream controller can react to excess coil temperature.
Terminals accept conductors up to 2 x 150 mm², giving enough copper cross-section to manage the specified current with minimal voltage drop. For infrequent overload events, the unit tolerates 150% for 60 s every 10 min, enabling safe acceleration of high-inertia loads without exceeding thermal limits. Internal winding impedance causes a heat dissipation of 1650 W during rated operation, so cabinet ventilation must be sized accordingly. The welded frame and iron core give the filter a mass of 353.0 kg. An M12 protective earth stud provides a low-impedance ground connection after installation.
