The 25.Z1.C05-1000 is a sine-wave electromagnetic compatibility filter manufactured by KEB and placed in the Z1 Sine Wave EMC Filters series. The component sits on the output of a variable-frequency drive to smooth high-frequency switching edges before they reach the motor. By reducing voltage rise time and common-mode currents, the filter helps protect motor windings, extend cable length, and limit electromagnetic interference on adjacent equipment inside an automated production line. This arrangement is useful where long motor leads or nearby control electronics are present.
It is designed for drive systems that operate on a rated line voltage of 480 V at a North American grid frequency of 60 Hz. Under these conditions, the filter supports a continuous phase current of 190 A, matching motors up to 150 hp. Electrical conversion losses are limited, giving an overall efficiency greater than 99%, so cabinet cooling requirements stay low. When wired upstream, the branch-circuit device must be sized no higher than 280 A, and the motor management system setting should be adjusted to 70 A to match the filter’s thermal profile. A short-circuit rating of 10 kA indicates the maximum fault level, and the termination screws require 20 Nm of torque to secure the copper bars.
Installation details align the filter with control panel practices. The housing has an IP20 protection rating, so it must be mounted inside a ventilated enclosure. During high-load acceleration, the unit can operate at 150% / 60 s / 10 min, but the resulting power loss of 1650 W must be removed by forced air. Harmonic distortion returned to the mains stays at 8% or less THDi, supporting IEEE 519 limits. The line terminals accept 95 mm² conductors, a ground stud sized M12 provides a low-impedance ground connection, and auxiliary loops can terminate on the M10 ring stud.
