The 24.Z1.C05-1000 filter is produced by KEB as part of the Z1 Sine Wave EMC Filters series. As a sine-wave output line filter, it is installed between a variable-frequency drive and the motor to smooth the switching waveform, suppress conducted electromagnetic noise, and extend motor insulation life in automation lines operating on 480-volt networks. By presenting a near-sinusoidal voltage to the stator, the device reduces bearing currents and audible motor whine. This makes it suitable for conveyors, pumps, and precise motion axes housed in control cabinets where quieter motor operation and lower electrical stress are beneficial.
Thermal management relies on a forced-air module that moves 7.5 m/sec across the core. The internal fan delivers an airflow of 360 m³/hr through a shrouded path, and its 15 cm impeller is balanced to minimize vibration. A single fan is installed, so the cooling path remains straightforward and only one bearing set is present in the assembly. The filter is rated for continuous line currents of 150 A, and copper conductors up to 70 mm² can be landed on the terminals to carry that load with acceptable temperature rise. At full duty, the iron and winding assembly dissipates 1350 W, so the stated airflow helps prevent hot spots. Operation is tuned to a mains frequency of 60 Hz, ensuring inductive reactance aligns with the drive carrier frequency.
The filter is configured for line voltages of 480 V and supports inverter outputs up to 125 hp. Overcurrent events are limited by a maximum branch-circuit protection value of 220 A. The recommended motor starter is set to 60 A to match the magnetics of this model. Short-circuit withstand is 10 kA, and torque of 20 Nm must be applied to the main lugs to secure cables. Mechanical bonding is provided by an M12 ground stud and M10 ring terminals that align with common panel hardware for secure cabinet grounding.
