Internal Product Review
The 23.Z1.C05-1000 is a KEB Z1 sine wave EMC filter engineered for 480 V systems up to 100 hp. Clean filtering performance at 115 A and 60 Hz makes the design especially well suited for demanding motor-drive installations. IP20 protection and 170 A maximum circuit protection make the assembly a strong choice for reliable panel-based integration.

Product Description:
The 23.Z1.C05-1000 sine-wave EMC filter is produced by KEB and belongs to the Z1 Sine Wave EMC Filters series. Installed between an inverter and a motor, the unit converts the pulse-width-modulated output of a drive into a near-sinusoidal waveform so induction or synchronous machines operate with lower electrical stress, audible noise, and electromagnetic emission. By inserting this passive component, maintenance intervals for motor insulation and bearings can be extended, and cable lengths in distributed automation cells can be increased without exceeding conducted-emission limits.
The device is designed for a line voltage of 480 V and carries a continuous phase current of 115 A when paired with motors up to 100 hp. It is tuned for industrial mains at 60 Hz, so impedance plots align with North American supply networks. Internal iron and copper losses reach 1125 W at rated load, and this heat must be removed by forced convection. For starting sequences, the upstream motor starter should be adjusted to 41 A so inrush transients stay below the laminated-core saturation threshold. This makes the filter suitable for medium-frame variable-frequency-drive installations that require sine filtering on long feeder runs.
Branch-circuit fusing up to 170 A can be installed, and the assembly withstands short-circuit currents of 10 kA without case rupture. The cooling fan is commanded by a sensor that trips at 100 °C, while 7.5 m/sec of air across the core maintains steady thermal equilibrium. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, so live parts are finger-safe but still require a cabinet for exposure to dust or moisture. Connection uses 2 AWG conductors on copper bus bars, with a tightening torque of 12 Nm and protective earth anchored on the M8 ground stud. Identical M8 hardware is provided for the ring-lug output, and one internal capacitor assembly shapes the LC network.
