The 22.Z1.F04-1010 sine-wave electromagnetic compatibility filter is produced by KEB for the Z1 Sine Wave EMC Filters series. Installed between an inverter and an AC motor, the unit smooths the pulse-width-modulated output so the motor windings experience a near-sinusoidal waveform. This reduces voltage stress, lowers acoustic noise, and limits high-frequency emissions that can interfere with nearby instrumentation in automated machinery.
The filter is designed for grids that supply motors at a nominal 400 VAC. It carries a continuous thermal rating of 115 A, allowing it to serve medium-power drives without derating under typical cabinet temperatures. When line transients occur, the insulation system tolerates up to 550 V without arcing. The magnetic core and winding layout allow the device to operate with inverter carrier frequencies as high as 2 kHz; above that point, additional attenuation devices may be required. A series inductance of 0.1 mH is inserted into each phase conductor, forming an L-type output filter that limits the rate of current change (di/dt) and shifts switching energy into a frequency band where stray capacitances can absorb it without damaging connected equipment.
Total dissipation at full load is 137 W, so the cabinet must provide sufficient airflow or heat sinking to remove this heat and keep the ambient temperature within the drive’s permitted limits. Power enters and exits through copper bars tapped for an M8 lug sized for a 50 mm² conductor, simplifying connection to busbars or large-gauge cables. The device treats all three conductors simultaneously through its three-phase topology, ensuring symmetrical filtering and balanced motor voltage. A steel housing brings the unit’s mass to 15.5 kg, providing mechanical stability on panels exposed to vibration and enough thermal inertia to moderate rapid temperature changes.
