The 15.Z1.C04-1002 is a passive harmonic filter produced by KEB within the Z1 Sine Wave EMC Filters series. Installed on the line side of a drive system, the unit filters line-side waveforms before they reach sensitive automation equipment, lowering current distortion and reducing stress on upstream components. By shaping the sinusoidal profile, the filter supports stable operation of variable-frequency drives and other converters used in factory automation and conveyor systems. It is intended for applications where cleaner input power helps improve compatibility with shared electrical infrastructure. This is especially useful where multiple drives share one feeder and supply distortion must be kept under control.
The filter handles a nominal line voltage of 400 V AC and is configured for three-phase power networks that operate at a standard 50 Hz line frequency. Inside, a passive LC topology creates low insertion loss and supports a documented operating efficiency of > 99 %, so nearly all transmitted power reaches the load instead of being dissipated as heat. This arrangement reduces phase-to-phase voltage ripple and keeps differential noise within EMC compliance limits. The line-side design also helps the connected drive draw a smoother current profile from the supply. Connection terminals face the line side, which simplifies wiring when the unit is mounted near the supply contactor. Its low-loss behavior also helps keep internal heat generation modest during normal operation.
During dynamic load changes, the filter can accept a temporary overload rated at 125% regenerative / 150% motoring without magnetic saturation. Under continuous operation, total harmonic current distortion remains below < 8 %, while voltage-related partial harmonic distortion, or PWHD, remains below < 15 %. The unit includes synchronization capability so the filter impedance stays aligned with the drive and resonant peaks are avoided when inverter switching frequency changes. This helps limit transformer heating and reduces unwanted interaction between the filter and the converter. Such behavior is useful in systems that cycle between acceleration, regeneration, and steady-state running. It also supports steadier current quality on installations with varying speed and load conditions.
