Product Description:
The 14.Z1.B04-1000 is a sine-wave EMC filter manufactured by KEB within the Z1 Sine Wave EMC Filters series. The device is intended for three-phase inverter installations, where it is wired in series with the motor leads to reconstruct a sinusoidal output waveform, attenuate common-mode noise, and limit the rate of voltage change at the motor terminals. By reducing conducted emissions, it assists industrial automation systems in meeting electromagnetic compatibility requirements while lowering motor insulation stress and audible switching noise.
The filter is designed for a rated line-to-line voltage of 400 VAC. This is the continuous operating level at which its insulation system and magnetic core remain within temperature limits. At this voltage, the thermal design supports a rated current of 17.3 A, matching typical motor feeds in the 7.5 kW range. For short-term overloads, the copper windings can carry up to 29.7 A without exceeding the filter’s operating limits, providing additional capacity during acceleration or braking events. An inductance of 1.7 mH shapes the output spectrum by blocking carrier frequencies while imposing only modest impedance at 50/60 Hz. Internal losses from core hysteresis and copper resistance total 69 W, and cabinet airflow must remove this heat to keep the winding temperature below its class rating.
The housing is 148 mm wide, 145 mm deep, and only 77 mm high, so the unit fits behind drive stacks without exceeding typical enclosure rail depth. With a mass of 2.8 kg, it can be mounted on standard DIN plates without additional bracing, while its copper weight of 0.9 kg provides sufficient conductor cross-section for thermal performance. The terminals accept conductors up to 4 mm², allowing appropriately sized motor leads to be connected directly to the filter. An IP20 touch-safe cover protects against accidental finger contact with internal components when the filter is installed in a ventilated control cabinet.
