Product Description:
The 13.Z1.C04-1001 is a sine-wave electromagnetic compatibility filter produced by KEB for the Z1 Sine Wave EMC Filters series. Intended for the output side of variable-frequency drives, it smooths the voltage waveform before it reaches an induction motor and thereby limits differential and common-mode disturbances that can propagate through machine wiring in automated lines. By reducing steep voltage edges, it protects motor insulation and minimizes electromagnetic interference that could disrupt nearby sensors or communication buses within a control cabinet.
The filter is dimensioned for a line voltage of 400 V and can pass a continuous phase current of 12.6 A when operated in duty class III service. Its application range suits inverter-fed machines drawing up to 5.5 kW of mechanical power. During normal operation, the iron-core and winding losses amount to 105 W, so the installation must provide forced ventilation or adequate spacing to remove that heat. The housing carries a protection rating of IP20, which permits installation inside closed electrical enclosures but requires shielding from direct liquid contact. The inductive network attenuates high-frequency components and reduces harmonic distortion to the limit described later.
The harmonic limit is 15%, meaning residual distortion of the fundamental waveform stays within drive guidelines for torque ripple and heating. For environmental resilience, the product is classified in climatic category 3K3, indicating it can operate in switchrooms where temperature and humidity fall within the moderately controlled range listed in IEC 60721. Main phase conductors connect to spring terminals sized for 4 mm² copper wire, while the protective-earth stud features an M6 thread to provide a low-impedance bonding path. Despite its laminated core, the filter weighs 8.7 kg, so mounting brackets or DIN rails must be rated for the additional mass to prevent vibration in high-speed machinery.
