The 12.Z1.F04-1010 sine wave EMC filter is produced by KEB within the Z1 Sine Wave EMC Filters series. The unit is a three-phase line filter installed between an inverter and an AC motor to smooth the pulse-width-modulated output into a near-sinusoidal waveform. This helps limit voltage stress on cable insulation and motor windings while also reducing electromagnetic emissions in industrial automation systems that use long motor leads or fast-switching output stages.
Its inductive element provides 1.26 mH of impedance, which attenuates the high-frequency components generated by carrier switching. The filter is rated for a nominal voltage of 400 VAC, so it can be placed on the output side of common low-voltage inverters without exceeding dielectric limits. A continuous load of 9.5 A can pass through the windings, which indicates the maximum motor current it can handle without overheating. Designed for converters that switch up to 2 kHz, the magnetic core is sized to avoid additional loss at this carrier frequency. After filtering, the drive can operate motors at up to 100 Hz, allowing speed ranges well above standard utility frequency while still benefiting from a clean sinusoidal waveform.
The housing is intended for cabinet installation where heat dissipation and wiring clearance can be managed around the filter body and adjacent drive components. When fully loaded, it dissipates 24 W as heat, so cabinet ventilation must accommodate this constant loss. The insulation system withstands up to 550 V across the terminals, providing headroom for transient overvoltage events caused by long cable runs. The housing spans 68 mm in width and mounts with screw flanges, leaving space for the recommended 4 mm² output conductors. Overall mass is 1.8 kg, of which 0.5 kg is copper, keeping the assembly light enough for DIN rail or back-panel mounting in multi-axis drive cabinets. The internal wound core supports the required three phases without a neutral connection.
