The 07.P1.320-0727 is a safety brake module produced by KEB within the P1 Encoders and Brakes series. Intended for integration on servomotor or spindle shafts, the unit generates a holding force that keeps the load stationary whenever drive power is removed or a fault is detected. By combining an internal magnet with an electromagnetic release circuit, the brake contributes to controlled stopping and secure positioning in packaging equipment, material-handling stations, and general automation cells found across assembly lines.
Its duty rating is 100%, so the brake can remain continuously energized without shortening its service life, which supports high-duty production cycles. The armature engages through a permanent-magnet field, delivering holding torque as soon as power is lost, while a dedicated coil provides the electromagnetic release needed for normal motion. The brake operates dry, eliminating the need for oil or grease between the friction surfaces. Protection is limited to the IP20 category, which guards against accidental finger contact but requires installation in a housing that excludes liquids. During installation, the working clearance should be 0.3 mm, and wear is acceptable until the air gap reaches 0.8 mm; beyond that point, the brake loses its rated torque.
The brake is supplied without a flange and with an internal hub that slips over the driven shaft, while the complete assembly is back-mounted to the motor end shield with standard screws. To prevent radial misalignment that could increase the air gap unevenly, the magnet-to-armature eccentricity is limited to 0.2 mm, and the shaft-to-magnet concentricity is limited to 0.08 mm. Power enters through two preassembled leads; the positive conductor is red, and the negative conductor is black, making polarity easier to verify when wiring the electromagnetic release circuit.
