Product Description:
The 06.P1.120-0647 is an electromagnetic brake module produced by KEB within the P1 Encoders and Brakes series. The device mounts on the shaft end of rotary machinery to create a controlled holding load when power is applied and to release automatically when motion is required. By combining a compact design with electrical actuation, it helps maintain positional accuracy on conveyors, indexing tables, and servo-driven axes. Its compact form also helps it fit into motor assemblies where available installation space is limited.
The brake is designed for continuous operation with a duty cycle of 100%, so thermal cycling does not limit engagement frequency during production shifts. When energized at the nominal supply of 24 VDC, its coil draws 18 W, creating the magnetic force needed to clamp the rotor and provide a rated holding capacity of 12 Nm. That torque remains available at spindle speeds up to 10,000 rpm, which supports use on fast-running motors without adding excessive drag during normal operation. The electromagnetic field also switches cleanly as current changes, supporting predictable brake behavior during repeated stop-and-start cycles.
Total axial depth is limited to 34.5 mm, so the brake fits inside tight motor housings, while the round mounting flange spans 80 mm for stable centering against the mounting face. The working air gap is factory set to 0.3 mm and must never exceed 0.65 mm; staying within this limit preserves the listed release time of 40 ms. An internal hub style accepts keyed shafts, and the bore can be machined up to 18 mm to match different motor sizes. Static holding capability at elevated winding temperatures is 8 Nm, confirming that the brake can still retain load at 120 °C. An IP20 housing protects the coil from accidental finger contact, but the module must still be installed inside a covered enclosure.
