It is intended to couple with servo or induction motors used in automated machinery, supplying controlled holding force whenever motion must be prevented for safety, positioning, or power-off retention. By converting electrical energy into magnetic attraction, the unit clamps its friction disc against the armature so machine axes remain stationary until the control system signals release.

This brake may be energized continuously, a capability expressed by a duty cycle of 100%, so coil temperature remains within limits during round-the-clock production. Under standard conditions, it delivers a holding capacity of 6.1 Nm, enough to secure moderate loads, and it achieves that with only 12 W of input power to minimize supply demand. Installation quality depends on a nominal air gap of 0.2 mm; once wear or misalignment increases separation toward the allowable maximum of 0.5 mm, braking torque and response time begin to decline. Keeping the gap near nominal preserves magnetic flux density and the short actuation times needed for precise cycle control.

The friction set can rotate at up to 10,000 rpm without losing integrity, allowing direct use on high-speed spindles and compact fan drives. When internal winding temperature climbs to 120 °C, the mechanism still sustains a static holding force of 4 Nm, ensuring load security during elevated ambient or heavy-duty operation. The enclosure meets protection class IP20, giving barrier protection against accidental finger contact while remaining vented for heat dissipation. With a mass of only 0.35 kg, the brake adds minimal inertial load to the motor shaft, which benefits rapid acceleration profiles and reduces bearing stress during frequent start-stop cycles.
