KEB manufactures the D2.F5.SBE-14EC input/output board for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. The module slides into the drive housing and supports closed-loop, field-oriented control of an attached motor by conditioning command, feedback, and reference signals inside the drive. By processing resolver or encoder feedback, the board allows the axis drive to regulate torque and position for conveyors, gantries, or machining spindles in automated production lines.
On the control side, a dedicated 24 V rail can supply 100 mA to external sensors. Two analog inputs are processed at 12-bit resolution and refreshed every 1 ms, allowing precise speed or torque references to enter the vector control algorithm. The board also offers one analog output that can deliver 5 mA into a 100 Ω load. Its low-pass network is tuned to 178 Hz, so noise above this frequency is attenuated before the signal reaches a PLC or chart recorder. Separate from these continuous channels, the isolated digital inputs are scanned on the same schedule to capture edge-triggered events from limit switches or interlocks.
The modulation section uses a pulse-width stream clocked at 3.4 kHz to drive the analog output stage with fine resolution. All command and feedback conductors terminate on a 29-pin control header, which simplifies cable management inside the cabinet. Each digital input presents 2.1 kΩ of resistance, permitting reliable operation with sourcing or sinking field devices. For drive references, the board supplies a stable +10 VDC source that can provide 4 mA with a tolerance of ±5% to potentiometers or transducers. The analog output has 12-bit resolution, matching the precision of the analog inputs. The board also includes a 15-pin Sub-D resolver interface, an E form-factor housing, and a 9-pin Sub-D encoder connector.
