This drive supports both single and three-phase input at 230 VAC/DC, includes a braking transistor accessory, and is cooled by a heat sink. It has a maximum heat sink temperature of 90°C, operates up to 2000 meters altitude, and has an overcurrent limit of 180%.
Internal Product Review
The B3.F5.SBD-24E0 is a KEB Combivert F5 axis drive with a braking transistor and closed-loop field-oriented motor control. Support for 1/3-phase 230 VAC/DC input gives the drive strong application flexibility in standard industrial power environments. Heat sink cooling and a 180% overcurrent limit make the unit a capable choice for demanding motion control.

Product Description:
The B3.F5.SBD-24E0 is an axis drive module produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It interfaces between a plant’s motion controller and an AC motor, managing speed, torque, and position through vector-control algorithms. Designed for industrial automation, the unit incorporates an internal braking transistor that manages regenerated energy and is supplied in a type D housing for cabinet installation.
This model accepts a supply in the 230 VAC/DC class and can be connected to single- or three-phase mains, providing flexibility for different power systems. The power devices switch at a 2 kHz carrier frequency, balancing electromagnetic noise and thermal loading. When rapid load changes occur, the current can rise to 180% of the nominal value before protective limits engage. Speed and torque regulation use closed-loop field-oriented control, which references flux-angle feedback rather than simple open-loop volts-per-hertz commands. Heat generated by the insulated-gate bipolar transistors is transferred to a dedicated heat sink. Short bursts of up to 150% of the rated current are permitted to accommodate acceleration peaks without interrupting normal axis operation.
Operating conditions align with climate class 3K3 and vibration class 3M1. The heat sink surface may reach 90 °C without derating, provided airflow across the fins remains unobstructed. Installation is permitted at elevations up to 2000 m above sea level, subject to the applicable altitude-related cooling requirements. During operation, relative humidity is limited to 85% noncondensing to help prevent moisture from forming conductive paths across the control electronics. A minimum full-load output frequency of 6 Hz supports low-speed conveyor or hoist applications. The unit does not include an encoder feedback card, so resolver or incremental encoder options must be added externally when finer positional accuracy is required.
