The A6.F5.S3A-2420 is an axis drive module manufactured by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. As a servo controller, it interfaces between the mains supply and a brushless motor, modulating voltage and frequency so that the commanded motion profile is executed precisely. It is intended for coordinated motion tasks that require closed-loop speed and position regulation during repetitive machine cycles. In industrial automation, this drive forms the link that synchronizes a conveyor, spindle, or pick-and-place arm with PLC timing, allowing the mechanical axis to follow position, velocity, or torque references issued by the central control system.
It accepts a 230 V AC/DC supply and supports single-phase or three-phase wiring, so the same unit can be used with either input type. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating and must be installed inside a control panel. The control electronics draw 0.8 A, while the power driver requires 0.2 A, which reduces the load on the 24 V auxiliary rail. Self-cooling fins remove heat without external fans, and housing size A matches other F5 modules. A braking transistor and EMI filter are installed to absorb regenerated energy and limit conducted noise. The axis uses servo control and is delivered without an encoder feedback card, leaving the option slot available for resolver or incremental interfaces.
The analog monitor channel supports a maximum load of 5 mA, and the digital status outputs can handle up to 50 mA. These interfaces allow the drive to exchange status signals with external controls while also supporting feedback devices on the motor side. For reference generation, the transmitter stage provides 4 mA, while sensor rails supply 100 mA to external encoders. Motion feedback can be routed over a resolver cable up to 50 m long, and incremental encoder emulation is available with a resolution of 1024 increments. When paired with a matched motor, the unit can govern shafts up to 4000 rpm.
