This arrangement supports regulated motion where the drive must respond quickly to load changes during indexing or continuous travel. The unit fits control cabinets through a single footprint and wiring provisions suited to low-voltage factory power networks.

The drive accepts either a three-wire or five-wire supply because the input configuration is single-phase or three-phase input, and the power section is rated for 230 V AC/DC. Its IGBT bridge switches at a carrier frequency of 8 kHz, balancing acoustic noise and thermal stress. During short acceleration bursts, the current may rise to 150% of nominal, while an overcurrent trip activates at 180% to protect the semiconductors. Closed-loop operation uses a resolver with an incremental output track, and the internal control scheme is servo-based for synchronous motors. All printed circuit boards are conformal coated to add a moisture barrier in washdown environments. The aluminum chassis uses housing type D, indicating mounting dimensions common across the Combivert F5 range.

Heat is removed through water cooling; coolant entering the exchanger must not exceed 40 °C, and line pressure is limited to 4 bar. Altitude derating starts at 1% per 100 m above 1000 m, and the drive may be installed up to 2000 m before additional reduction is required. The stated short-time and trip currents remain valid under those conditions when the switching frequency and coolant parameters are maintained. The exchanger must remove the switching losses generated during full modulation duty.
