The 37.F5.A1P-90-D is an axis drive module manufactured by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Acting as a high-power inverter, it converts fixed three-phase mains power into variable-voltage, variable-frequency output so machine controllers can regulate motor speed and torque in presses, extruders, winders, and similar automated equipment. The drive provides encoder-based position feedback for closed-loop motion control. Its scalable configuration allows additional axes to be integrated without changing the fundamental control architecture.
The module operates from a 400 V AC supply delivered across a three-phase input bus and uses a configuration designated as 3 × P. At this line voltage, the unit delivers a continuous shaft output of 710 kW while drawing a rated armature current of 1330 A. Standard IGBTs switch at 2 kHz, while the drive permits operation at up to 4 kHz when lower acoustic noise or finer motor control requires a higher pulse-width modulation frequency. Because the housing has an IP20 protection rating, the drive must be installed inside a force-ventilated cabinet. A standard control board accepts incremental TTL feedback through a 15-pin D-Sub socket and retransmits conditioned signals through a nine-pin outlet. External mains and output chokes are required to attenuate rapid current changes, and the integrated board provides an auxiliary TTL channel for status signals.
A braking transistor diverts excess DC-bus energy during rapid deceleration. Fault logic disables the output when the instantaneous motor current rises to 1663 A or when the internal comparator detects a load equal to 150% of the continuous limit, helping prevent semiconductor damage. Conducted emissions comply with the C2 category when a correctly sized mains choke is installed on the industrial supply. The three-phase supply conductors connect to top-mounted power studs, while shielded control wiring terminates at the D-Sub connectors. Separating power and signal connections helps limit electrical interference within the cabinet and keeps the wiring paths organized.
