The 30.F5.A1W-A0-A is an axis drive produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency plant power into variable-frequency output power for controlling induction or synchronous motors in automated conveyors, extruders, and test benches. A built-in braking transistor dissipates regenerated energy during deceleration, reducing the need for an external braking chopper. The W-coded housing and standard control board provide a consistent mechanical arrangement for installation in switchgear cabinets.
The drive delivers a continuous output of 315 kW at a rated motor current of 570 A, making it suitable for high-horsepower machinery that requires steady torque. Incoming power must be supplied by a six-phase 400 V AC source; this multipulse arrangement reduces harmonic content and improves DC-link utilization. During brief overloads, the inverter can supply up to 713 A to support acceleration or changing load demands. Its IGBT power stage operates at a nominal switching frequency of 2 kHz and supports a maximum switching frequency of 4 kHz when finer current modulation or quieter motor operation is needed. The selected switching rate must remain compatible with the connected motor, cable length, and thermal conditions.
The control interface includes two analog inputs for process commands, and each channel uses 12-bit conversion for precise reference handling. A ±10 V analog output uses 10-bit conversion to provide external monitoring signals. The digital input scan interval is 1 ms, allowing a connected PLC to update speed or torque commands with minimal delay. Eight digital inputs support discrete control functions, while a +10 V DC reference source supplies up to 4 mA for connected command devices. The transistor outputs have a combined sink capacity of 50 mA for operating compatible low-current control loads. Field wiring terminates at 29 spring-clamp control points, which secure conductors without screw terminals and provide an organized connection area for the drive’s command, status, and reference signals.
