Product Description:
The 28.F5.A1P-B0-A is an AC axis drive from KEB supplied within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. The unit converts a fixed three-phase supply into variable-voltage and variable-frequency output power that allows automation controllers to command large induction motors rated up to 250 horsepower. By delivering closed-loop speed and torque regulation, the drive supports conveyor lines, pumps, and process machinery that require adaptable motor performance. Its power conversion stage adjusts motor operation in response to commands from the connected control system while maintaining stable performance under changing loads.
At the input, the drive accepts three-phase power at a nominal voltage of 690 VAC and draws a rated current of 232 A under continuous load. Internally, a standard control board executes the operating functions and supervises the factory-installed braking transistor used during regenerative deceleration. On the output side, the inverter can deliver up to 281 A of current and modulate output frequency from zero to 599 Hz. Routine power switching occurs at a fixed frequency of 2 kHz. The IP20 enclosure is intended for installation inside a protected cabinet because it prevents contact with hazardous internal components but does not provide protection against water. The housing has a 1 × P code and measures 340 mm wide and 454 mm deep, which should be considered when arranging cabinet clearances and adjacent equipment.
The power semiconductor stack can handle an apparent output of 269 kVA, providing a continuous line-to-motor capacity of 225 A without derating. During standstill operation at the higher carrier frequency, current is limited to 158 A to control thermal loading in the power stage. Transient operating tasks can use a maximum carrier frequency of 4 kHz when required by the application. The inverter has size code 28 and a frame height of 960 mm, leaving sufficient space for airflow above and below the unit. Three input phases connect at the base terminals, allowing the incoming power conductors to enter from the lower section of the cabinet. The terminal placement also keeps the power wiring separate from the control board and associated low-voltage signal connections.
