Internal Product Review
The 22.F5.CAR-Y000 is a KEB F5 Combivert axis drive that presents as a strong option for high-power motion control, with a 400 V input and 80 kVA output capacity. IP20 protection and a 16 kHz maximum carrier frequency support clean cabinet integration and stable switching performance. A 599 Hz maximum output frequency is a particularly attractive spec for flexible speed regulation.

Product Description:
The 22.F5.CAR-Y000 is an AC axis drive inverter manufactured by KEB and supplied in the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It controls three-phase motors in industrial automation, providing speed and torque regulation without mechanical gear changes. By linking directly to PLC systems, the unit governs production lines, material-handling axes, and process equipment through voltage-source inversion and pulse-width modulation. Its modular design allows cabinet mounting alongside matching braking and filter modules, and the inverter size and housing codes ensure compatibility with standardized Combivert accessories.
The drive delivers up to 75 HP, a limit that also applies to the unit’s 480 V rating. Output frequency is adjustable from 3 Hz to 599 Hz. A peak phase current of 172 A is available before current limiting, while an overcurrent trip occurs at 207 A. The power devices can switch at up to 16 kHz; the higher rate reduces motor noise at the cost of additional switching loss. Input demand reaches 127 A on a three-phase 400 V supply, so KEB recommends a 160 A mains fuse. Terminals are tightened to 6 N·m, and the heat sink may reach 90 °C under full load. The drive has size code 22 and housing code R, and it does not include an encoder feedback card.
Continuous-duty output is limited by an apparent power rating of 80 kVA and a steady-state phase current of 115 A delivered at the rated carrier frequency of 8 kHz. The protection category is IP20, so the unit must be mounted inside a control enclosure to prevent finger contact and minimize dust exposure. Thermal supervision activates before the maximum heat sink temperature is reached to protect the IGBTs. The controller reduces the switching speed if the temperature rises further. Sensorless vector control accommodates pumps, fans, and material-handling axes that operate within the drive’s mechanical and electrical limits.
