The 21.F5.C0R-950A is an AC inverter drive manufactured by KEB as part of the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It modulates voltage and frequency for individual machine axes, enabling precise speed, torque, and braking control in conveyor lines, winding stations, and packaging cells. Installed inside a control cabinet, it serves as the interface between fixed-frequency mains power and motor terminals in automated equipment.
The drive accepts a 3-phase 400 V AC input and is assigned inverter size code 21, which sets the heat-sink mass and semiconductor layout. Its standard varnished finish protects conductive paths from moisture, and housing form factor code R fixes the mounting footprint inside a control cabinet. Under continuous duty, the output phase current is 90 A, and because no encoder interface is present, the drive relies on open-loop or sensorless control. The pulse-width modulator can switch up to 16 kHz, reducing audible motor noise, while emissions remain within the C1 class for residential or light-industrial environments. Power delivery tops out at 60 HP on either 400 V or 230 V Unit B supplies, making the same chassis suitable for dual-voltage installations.
During transient loading, the inverter can produce 162 A, but the control algorithm permits this level only for a short window equal to 150% of nominal current. If a fault drives the output to 180%, an overcurrent trip stops conduction to protect the IGBTs. Routine operation uses a carrier frequency of 4 kHz, providing a balance between switching loss and acoustic output, and it may be raised to the ceiling noted earlier when quieter motor operation is needed. Even without an encoder interface, the drive’s filter network maintains EMC compliance across the full switching range. The housing can be aligned with adjacent F5 modules to simplify airflow paths and busbar routing.
