The 21.F5.A3R-YR6A drive is produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Supplied in inverter size code 21, the unit functions as a closed-loop axis controller that converts fixed mains power into variable-frequency, variable-voltage output for three-phase motors in automated machinery. By synchronizing motion sequences with PLC logic, it supports coordinated speed, torque, and position control on production lines and material-handling systems. This functionality makes the drive suitable for applications that require controlled acceleration, accurate positioning, and stable motor torque under changing loads.
The drive accepts an input of 400 V AC or AC/DC. Its power stack has a standard varnished surface that helps protect internal components from airborne contaminants. The control layer uses a standard board that supports fieldbus communication, diagnostics, and parameter storage. Motor feedback enters through a Hiperface and SSI interface, providing absolute position data during startup and high-resolution incremental data during motion. Maximum continuous motor capacity reaches 60 HP, supporting demanding axes in conveyors, processing equipment, and handling machinery. An internal braking transistor and EMI filter manages regenerative energy and helps reduce electromagnetic interference. The drive also provides 2 programmable analog outputs that can transmit speed or torque references to external drives, indicators, or other control devices.
Configuration is organized into 14 parameter groups, allowing motion, protection, and communication settings to be accessed without navigating unrelated menus. For machine interfacing, the drive offers 8 user-assignable digital inputs, two digital outputs, and two relay contacts. These connections can receive machine commands and report operating conditions, fault states, or run signals directly to external control circuits. The signals are wired through the rear panel associated with housing code R, which is compatible with KEB’s 125 mm frame-height installation kits. This rear connection arrangement keeps signal wiring organized and separates low-voltage control conductors from the primary motor and power connections.
