Product Description:
The 18.F5.MAH-YV1F is an inverter module produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It forms part of a modular platform that regulates three-phase induction motors in automated machinery and material-handling lines. Within a multi-axis cabinet, the drive supplies variable frequency and voltage in response to vector commands from the control system, allowing precise speed and torque regulation over a shared DC bus. Its modular arrangement supports coordinated motion while reducing the number of separate power conversion components required in the cabinet.
An auxiliary encoder channel delivers position feedback as TTL square-wave signals, enabling the controller to verify shaft movement at high resolution. Motor torque is generated through closed-loop field-oriented control, which maintains dynamic accuracy as the mechanical load changes. The integrated feedback port supports the Hiperface protocol, combining absolute position and commutation data through a bidirectional connection. The general power rating supports motors up to 30 HP, making the unit suitable for midrange conveyors, pumps, spindles, and other variable-speed machinery. The 18 size code corresponds to the unit’s cooling surface, semiconductor package, and mounting pitch within the F5 platform. These control and feedback functions allow the drive to respond quickly to changes in commanded speed, torque demand, and shaft position.
The mechanical enclosure uses the H housing format, providing consistent height and depth dimensions for row installation with compatible brake choppers and filter modules. Standardized fieldbus slots provide access to industrial communication networks, while screw-terminal power blocks support secure connections to the motor and shared DC bus. A protective coating on the control electronics helps guard internal circuits against moisture and airborne contaminants in industrial installations. The parameter structure and diagnostic menus are compatible with other KEB motion components, simplifying integration into coordinated control systems. Application macros support functions used in machinery such as winders and hoists without changing the module’s primary role as a variable-frequency inverter. Its compact enclosure also helps conserve panel space where several controlled axes must be installed in the same cabinet.
