Product Description:
The 18.F5.G1G-Y000 is an AC axis drive module engineered by KEB and positioned in the company's F5 axis drive line. Serving as the power stage between a motion controller and a three-phase induction or synchronous motor, the unit converts fixed mains frequency into a regulated pulse-width-modulated output so industrial machinery can vary speed, torque, and direction on demand. In automated lines, the drive is used on conveyors, extruders, and positioning axes where adjustable acceleration and controlled braking can shorten cycle times, lower energy use, and reduce mechanical stress. Its regulated output also helps match motor response to changing process loads without abrupt starts or stops.
Inside the unit, KEB assigns an inverter size of 18, indicating the semiconductor rating and heatsink mass for mid-range duties. The heatsink and power section are sized to handle sustained industrial duty within that inverter class. The motor ceiling is 30 HP, which indicates the continuous mechanical load the drive can support from plant mains. A factory-installed braking transistor diverts surplus kinetic energy into a resistor bank during deceleration, preventing DC-bus overvoltage. Mounting is simplified by the G housing form factor, which aligns with F5 backplates, preserves airflow for the internal fan, and keeps cabinet depth within the 200 mm class.
No feedback hardware is shipped, so the option slot remains open and the drive is delivered with no encoder feedback card. When supplied from a 480 V three-phase network, the unit still supports 30 HP at 480 V, allowing the same motor power level on that supply. It belongs to the F5 Combivert Axis Drives family, and the product line tag Combivert F5 identifies the series. This arrangement suits installations that begin with open-loop operation and add closed-loop feedback later.
