Product Description:
The 18.F5.ABG-344F is an axis inverter drive produced by KEB within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Designed as a modular power stage for servo and induction motors, the unit interfaces with higher-level motion controllers to regulate torque, speed, and position in automated machinery. By converting three-phase mains power into a pulse-width-modulated output, the device supplies adjustable frequency and voltage to operate different motor types. This flexibility supports packaging systems, material-handling equipment, machine tools, and other applications that require controlled motion. The modular format also allows the drive to operate as part of a coordinated multi-axis system housed in a common control cabinet.
The control section uses a standard board that provides general-purpose I/O and fieldbus terminals for communication with other automation equipment. Auxiliary monitoring pulses leave the board as TTL-level signals, enabling direct feedback to compatible PLC high-speed counters without additional level shifters. Rotor position data is accepted through a Hiperface interface, allowing absolute position information to remain available after each power cycle. The manufacturer assigns the unit an inverter size code of 18, which corresponds to its heat sink capacity and current range. The drive supports motors rated up to 30 HP on 400 V networks. Its adjustable output allows the connected motor to follow commanded acceleration, deceleration, speed, and torque profiles while the external motion controller manages the overall machine sequence.
The drive uses housing form factor G, providing a cabinet profile that aligns with compatible KEB busbar kits and supports side-by-side installation in multi-axis systems. When supplied with 480 V, the Unit B version delivers 30 HP at 480 V for operation on common North American industrial power systems. The F5 platform uses a consistent parameter structure that supports integration with related Combivert equipment. KEB diagnostic tools provide access to operating values, stored parameters, and drive status information. These tools can also transfer parameter sets between identical units without requiring motor data to be entered again. The side-by-side mounting arrangement helps reduce cable lengths between the mains connection, shared control equipment, and individual motor axes.
