Product Description:
The 18.F5.A1H-36HF is an AC axis drive from KEB that belongs to the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. As an inverter in multi-axis automation, it modulates three-phase power for induction or synchronous motors and manages dynamic braking through its integrated transistor. The unit’s inverter size code 18 and housing form factor H place it in the midrange of the platform, allowing it to control machines with substantial power demands without external expansion.
This drive accepts a three-phase 400 V AC/DC input and can deliver up to 30 HP of continuous mechanical output to the motor terminals. Its power stage operates at 8 kHz, a switching frequency that balances current ripple with thermal loss for typical motor inductances. During acceleration, the current can rise to 150% of the nominal value, and the overcurrent trip activates at 180% of the nominal value to protect the semiconductors against short circuits. Digital control is handled by the standard board, which provides transistor outputs and form C relays for auxiliary logic. The included braking transistor channels regenerated energy to an external resistor so that overvoltage can be reduced without stopping production.
The enclosure has an IP20 protection rating for cabinet mounting, while encoder feedback is accepted through a Hiperface interface that supplies position data and supports automatic parameter identification. Machine I/O includes 8 digital inputs for sequence control and 2 analog outputs that can transmit speed or torque references to downstream devices. Two TTL auxiliary signal outputs relay internal fault or status signals to external monitoring equipment. The unit measures 297 mm wide, 255 mm deep, and 340 mm high. These dimensions allow placement in standard 600 mm control cabinets without special mounting adapters while leaving room for the required power, feedback, and control wiring.
