Product Description:
The 18.F5.A1H-36GF is an axis inverter produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It forms the link between a machine PLC and a three-phase motor, delivering variable voltage and frequency to execute speed and position commands in automated manufacturing equipment. Integrated control electronics and fieldbus interfaces allow the drive to coordinate motion, while the power stage converts the incoming supply into regulated output power for synchronous or asynchronous motors.
The drive accepts a three-phase 400 V AC or DC input. Its power stage operates at a carrier frequency of 8 kHz to synthesize the motor waveform. The control board samples two analog command channels with 12-bit resolution and processes them through a 178 Hz filter. Two analog outputs use pulse-width modulation at 3.4 kHz to provide proportional reference signals. The Hiperface encoder interface supplies instantaneous rotor position data to the vector control core. Digital inputs are isolated by 2.1 kΩ resistance, and a dedicated +10 V DC reference with a 4 mA source simplifies external potentiometer wiring.
The I/O scan completes in 1 ms, supporting rapid command and feedback updates during coordinated motion. The drive provides an output capacity of 30 HP at 480 V. Fault protection includes an overcurrent shutdown at 180% of nominal current and a short-time current capacity of 150% for rapid acceleration cycles. Two programmable transistor channels and two relay contacts control or monitor external devices, while auxiliary status lines provide TTL signals. Each analog output uses 10-bit quantization to maintain command fidelity. The GTR 7 braking chopper works with the integrated braking transistor to dissipate regenerated energy when the motor decelerates. The unit has inverter size code 18, housing form factor H, and a standard control board for installation in compatible cabinet layouts. Digital vector algorithms on the internal control core maintain torque accuracy throughout the operating speed range.
