Product Description:
The 18.F5.A1G-Y45J drive is produced by KEB within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It is an inverter module that modulates a fixed three-phase mains supply to regulate induction or synchronous motors on automated machinery lines. By combining power electronics with a microprocessor-based control board, the unit provides closed-loop speed and torque control so that a plant controller can match motor output to process demand while limiting energy use and mechanical wear.
The drive provides a continuous output of 22 kW at a rated line voltage of 400 V. Under these conditions, the inverter delivers a steady phase current of 50 A. The internal power stage operates at a nominal switching frequency of 2 kHz, but the frequency can be raised to a maximum of 8 kHz when lower motor noise is required. These ratings correspond to the standard size 18 power section used throughout the series, allowing common mechanical dimensions and cooling layouts. Protection algorithms use thermistor feedback to maintain an allowable silicon junction temperature during high modulation duty, and parameter sets store motor data so vector control can be applied without encoder feedback.
A peak overload window supports currents up to 75 A for short acceleration bursts, matching the application range of motors up to 30 HP on 480 V networks. Dynamic braking energy is routed through the factory-installed braking transistor, eliminating the need for an external chopper when rapid deceleration is commanded. The standard control board provides eight digital inputs, two digital outputs, two analog inputs, two analog outputs, and two relay outputs so that PLCs can supervise run, fault, and mode functions. Form factor code G and inverter size 18 establish the mounting footprint, while the conductors from a three-phase mains supply terminate at screw-clamp terminals inside the IP00 power section.
