The 17.F5.MDG-Y0P1 belongs to the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series produced by KEB. It is an inverter drive that regulates induction or synchronous motors in automated machinery, coordinating speed, torque, and braking duties on a single axis. It is intended for single-axis applications that need controlled acceleration and deceleration during routine machine operation. Designed for three-phase systems, the unit combines the manufacturer's multi-mode control structure with an integrated brake transistor and EMC filter so it can be wired directly into control panels without extra suppression hardware.
This model accepts a rated line of 400 V across three input phases and delivers a continuous output current of 42 A. At that operating point, it supplies up to 29 kVA of apparent power to the motor. Pulse generation is factory set to a rated switching frequency of 4 kHz, yet the electronics can be tuned as high as 16 kHz when lower audible noise or finer current resolution is required. The multi-control function allows V/Hz, sensorless vector, or closed-loop feedback operation to be selected in software, while inverter size code 17 and housing form factor G set the mechanical dimensions and thermal capacity. The drive supports 25 HP motor output on a 400 V bus and, in Unit B configuration, on a 230 V bus. A braking resistor of at least 25 Ω is required to dissipate regenerated energy during deceleration.
The internal chopper can steer up to 30 A of braking current into the resistor, and the power stage dissipates about 500 W of heat under full load. To protect the semiconductors, the drive trips on an instantaneous overcurrent of 75 A. Short surges are permitted as long as they remain within the short-time limit of 63 A, and the supply line also requires a main fuse of the same rating.
