Product Description:
The 16.F5.M1E-34GA is an AC inverter drive manufactured by KEB as part of the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit modulates DC link energy to supply variable-frequency, variable-voltage power to industrial motors. Within automated lines, it handles closed-loop speed or torque regulation, allowing machine tools, material handlers, and process pumps to match motor output to the instantaneous load requirement.
The inverter is fed from a three-phase network at 400 V and draws an input of 43 A under rated load; size code 16 denotes the mechanical frame and semiconductor rating that support these values. At the output side, it delivers 33 A of continuous current, which corresponds to 23 kVA of apparent power and is sufficient to drive machines up to 20 hp on 400 V lines and the same 20 hp limit when a 230 V motor is connected to unit-B terminals. Current overload capability reaches 49.5 A for short transients before the electronic overcurrent trip level of 59 A is reached. Frequency modulation extends from the 6 Hz full-load floor up to the carrier maximum of 16 kHz. The user can select lower carrier settings when acoustic noise or switching losses need to be reduced, and the unit incorporates a braking transistor so regenerated energy can be discharged into an external resistor during fast deceleration.
For thermal management, the drive is specified for operation until the heat sink reaches 90 °C. At nominal conditions, it releases 330 W, while DC losses are 275 W, and installation requires a 50 A mains fuse with motor leads up to 10 mm². The standard housing marked with form factor E shares airflow paths across the fins, and the internal logic uses its 2 kHz default carrier to balance efficiency with electromagnetic emission. The drive is suitable for variable-torque and constant-torque machinery.
