Product Description:
KEB manufactures the 16.F5.CBE-YA00 axis drive within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. This three-phase inverter regulates induction or synchronous motors in automated machinery, converting incoming line power into a variable frequency and voltage output so that speed and torque can be matched to process demands. Its role in production lines is to coordinate a single mechanical axis, enabling conveyors, winders, or extruders to follow precise motion profiles.
Electrical capacity is linked to the input stage, which accepts up to 400 V AC or an equivalent DC bus. The inverter can modulate the motor field to a peak frequency of 800 Hz, while internal IGBTs switch at 8 kHz to minimize current ripple. Transient load events are covered by a short-time current reserve of 180%, and the protection system completes status scans every 2 ms to react quickly to faults. Control resources include 8 digital inputs, 2 analog inputs, 2 analog outputs, 2 relay outputs, 2 transistor outputs, and 4 software-configurable I/O points, allowing local logic without a separate PLC. The unit is cooled by a standard fan channel, and encoder feedback hardware is not installed, so velocity estimation relies on motor models.
Hardware limits are enforced by an overcurrent trip threshold of 216% of rated RMS output. The drive supports motors up to 20 HP at 400 V, and that same limit also applies to 230 V operation in unit size B. Field wiring attaches to 29 control terminals mounted on housing form factor E, and the power stage is identified as inverter size code 16. Up to 8 parameter sets can be stored so the same unit can serve different recipes without new data being loaded. With a maximum short-time motor power equal to the general rating, no derating is needed when the ambient conditions match the intended cooling profile.
