Product Description:
The 16.F5.A1G-36YA is an AC axis drive module produced by KEB within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. As part of a multi-axis system, the inverter converts a constant supply voltage into an output with variable frequency and amplitude, allowing an automation controller to regulate motor speed, torque, and direction. This electronic control supports coordinated movement and adjustable process speeds without requiring mechanical gear changes. The module is suitable for packaging lines, material-handling equipment, conveyors, and other industrial systems that use controlled AC motors. Its modular format also allows multiple controlled axes to be arranged within a common drive installation.
A standard board provides the core control electronics, allowing parameter management and fieldbus functions to follow the baseline F5 control profile. The drive supports up to 20 HP of mechanical output, making it suitable for midrange pumps, conveyors, extruders, and comparable motor-driven equipment. Housing code G identifies the enclosure format and corresponds to the mounting arrangement and cooling-fin layout used for this frame. Controlled deceleration is supported by an integrated braking transistor, which allows an external resistor to dissipate regenerated energy when the motor slows. This arrangement helps prevent excessive voltage from accumulating on the DC bus during rapid or frequent braking cycles. Inverter size code 16 indicates the unit’s position within the available power range and corresponds to its current capacity and required internal clearances.
The unit is grouped under the Combivert F5 product designation and can be used with compatible operator panels and optional S6 safety cards. Operator panels provide local access to operating values and drive parameters when direct interaction with the module is required. Optional communication equipment allows the drive to exchange commands, operating data, and status information with a higher-level controller in an automated system. When configured for the low-voltage mains version, the inverter operates from a 230 V three-phase supply and can deliver full torque with a properly matched motor. This supply option accommodates installations that use a lower-voltage bus architecture while retaining the drive’s rated mechanical output. The housing fins provide a path for removing heat from the power electronics, and the mounting-hole arrangement secures the module within the drive cabinet.
