Product Description:
The 16.F5.M1E-344A is an axis drive produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It serves as the intermediary power stage that receives three-phase mains power, modulates the frequency, and delivers controlled current to induction motors. In a closed-loop configuration, the drive allows a higher-level controller to command precise speed and torque. This control supports repeatable motion in conveyors, pick-and-place modules, and other automated equipment.
The IP20 housing protects live parts while permitting airflow through the control panel. Continuous output is limited to a rated current of 33 A, with a corresponding power rating of 15 kW when the drive operates from a three-phase 400 V AC/DC supply. The base switching frequency is 2 kHz, providing the minimum carrier frequency for IGBT commutation while helping reduce acoustic noise at low motor speeds. Field-oriented control continually adjusts the flux and torque vectors, and the installed braking transistor dissipates regenerated energy during rapid deceleration. The drive has a varnished cooling channel and measures 130 × 290 × 208 mm. Its housing uses form factor code E, which corresponds to KEB cabinet layouts. Feedback connections include a 15-pole D-Sub socket for TTL incremental encoder signals and a 9-pole D-Sub socket for SSI absolute position data.
The maximum carrier frequency is 16 kHz, allowing finer motor-current control during high-speed motion. Short acceleration or load events can draw up to 49.5 A, while the overcurrent trip activates at 180% of the nominal current to protect the power semiconductors. The inverter accommodates motors rated up to 20 HP on 230 V installations. An inverter size code of 16 groups the model with modules that have similar power capabilities. Absolute feedback received through the SSI port supports applications that require tighter position holding. The incremental encoder input provides an alternative feedback path for systems that use TTL position and speed signals.
