Product Description:
The 16.F5.GKG-360A drive belongs to the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series produced by KEB. This inverter converts three-phase mains power into a regulated output for asynchronous or synchronous motors used in material-handling lines, packaging stations, and general automation. Carrier-frequency modulation and vector-control algorithms regulate the motor torque and speed according to control commands. The compact panel-mounted design allows the drive to serve variable-speed conveyors, process equipment, and coordinated machine axes.
The drive accepts a three-phase 400 V AC supply or a compatible DC input. Its power stage supports motor loads up to 20 HP on 400 V or 230 V systems, while a rated switching frequency of 8 kHz balances audible noise and motor heating. Two analog inputs are digitized at 12-bit resolution, providing suitable signal precision for speed, torque, or process references. Eight digital inputs are sampled every 1 ms, allowing the controller to respond quickly to machine states and command changes. Output resources include two transistor outputs that share 50 mA and two Form C relays rated for 30 VDC at 1 A. Open-loop flux-vector control is included as standard, and closed-loop operation is available when an external encoder and the appropriate interface are added. The base unit does not contain an encoder interface. Housing code G and inverter size 16 indicate the enclosure format used for panel installation.
Protection routines limit electrical stress during demanding operating cycles and fault conditions. During acceleration, short-term current can reach 150% of nominal current, while the overcurrent trip activates at 180% of nominal current to protect the power stage and connected motor. A counter input accepts pulse trains up to 500 Hz, supporting basic positioning and event-counting tasks without a separate high-speed input module. The control electronics operate from an independent 24 V DC supply, allowing control functions and status communication to remain active when the mains input is isolated. The separate control supply also permits diagnostics and parameter access without energizing the motor power section. These input, output, and protection functions support integration with common machine controllers and external switching devices.
