Product Description:
The 16.F5.B3E-Y002 belongs to the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series produced by KEB. This inverter provides open-loop vector control for three-phase induction motors used in automated plant equipment. It carries inverter size code 16 and housing form factor E, indicating dimensions compatible with the manufacturer’s water-cooled mounting plate. BASIC open-loop flux vector control regulates motor operation without direct speed feedback. The unit includes a braking transistor for connection to a braking path and an internal EMI filter that helps reduce conducted electrical noise.
The drive operates from a three-phase input of 400 V AC or an equivalent DC-link supply. It delivers continuous output power of 15 kW at a rated output current of 33 A. The IP20 enclosure requires installation inside a switch cabinet that provides suitable protection against contact and debris. Its internal IGBT bridge switches at 2 kHz, balancing audible motor noise with power losses in the semiconductor stage. Water circulating through the cooling plate removes heat without recirculating warm air inside the cabinet. The encoder interface is left blank, so the controller estimates motor speed from its internal model instead of receiving feedback from a position sensor.
Under transient operating conditions, the inverter can supply up to 150% of its rated current before overcurrent protection intervenes. It also supports 125% of rated current for short acceleration periods and can operate motors rated up to 20 HP on the applicable 400 V bus or 230 V Unit B branch. The control electronics process five digital inputs, one analog input, one analog output, and two relay contacts during each 2 ms control cycle. This scan rate allows changes at the control terminals to be incorporated promptly into the open-loop control algorithm. The available analog and digital connections support command, monitoring, and switching functions without requiring an external feedback device.
