Product Description:
The 16.F5.ABE-YH02 axis inverter is produced by KEB as part of the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Designed for multi-axis automation, the device converts fixed mains power into a regulated three-phase output that controls an induction or servo motor along a single machine axis. Its role is to match motor torque and speed with process demand while exchanging status and command data with higher-level controllers through the drive bus.
The drive accepts a line voltage of 400 V. Thermal management relies on a water-cooled heat sink, so cabinet airflow can remain low even when the inverter operates continuously at full load. Within the unit, the IGBT bridge switches at 4 kHz, balancing acoustic noise and switching losses in medium-power motors. The power stage supports a maximum motor output of 20 HP and can deliver up to 400% of nominal current during brief acceleration or shock-load events. This overload capacity helps the module start heavy rotors and respond to sudden changes in mechanical demand. Water cooling transfers heat away from the power semiconductors without requiring high airflow through the electrical enclosure.
Overcurrent protection trips at 480% of the continuous current rating, shutting down the inverter before the power stage is damaged. The housing uses form factor code E, providing a slim footprint that is compatible with F5 mounting arrangements. The control electronics use the standard board, and the Control Type Application configuration provides programmable logic blocks for application-specific functions. The unit accepts an AC or AC/DC input supply, allowing it to operate from an independent mains feed or share a common DC bus with other drive modules. The absence of an encoder interface simplifies wiring for applications that use open-loop vector control. Its regulated output allows the connected motor to respond to changing speed and torque commands while the protective functions monitor power-stage loading.
