Product Description:
The 16.F5.A1G-36EA is an axis drive module from the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series manufactured by KEB. It is intended for cabinet installation, where it converts a fixed-frequency power supply into a variable-voltage, variable-frequency output that allows automation controllers to regulate induction or synchronous motors across their rated torque and speed ranges. The standard control board works with an integrated resolver interface to support closed-loop positioning in material-handling cells, conveyor lines, and packaging stations. The drive can regulate motor speed, torque, and position in response to commands from an external automation controller.
The inverter accepts a 400 V input from a three-phase AC supply or a compatible DC bus. Within size code 16 and housing form factor G, it delivers up to 20 HP of motor power and operates at a rated carrier frequency of 8 kHz. This switching frequency balances audible noise with thermal loading on the output stage. The control interface has 8 digital inputs for functions such as step, enable, and direction commands. It also has 2 analog outputs for returning selected process variables to connected control equipment. A resolver interface with an incremental output channel forwards shaft-position information to an external controller. The drive supplies a three-phase AC output, while two relay outputs can control external contactors or braking equipment.
A factory-installed braking transistor identified as GTR 7 works with an external resistor to dissipate regenerated energy during rapid deceleration. Overcurrent protection trips when motor current reaches 180% of nominal current, helping protect the output stage and connected motor from excessive electrical loading. A separate short-term rating permits operation at 150% of nominal current during brief overloads without immediately interrupting service. Standard convection cooling removes operating heat without requiring a dedicated liquid-cooling circuit. The AC/DC input arrangement provides flexibility for systems powered from a conventional line supply or a shared DC bus. Feedback wiring is routed through the encoder interface, reducing the number of separate signal connections required between the drive and motor.
