The 15.F5.GBE-YM00 is an AC axis drive module manufactured by KEB and supplied within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Deployed inside multi-axis automation cells, the unit modulates inverter output to regulate induction or synchronous motors up to medium power levels. By converting a fixed industrial mains supply into a variable voltage and frequency waveform, it provides speed, torque, and positioning control required for conveyors, packaging equipment, and machine tool feed axes.
The drive is designed for a three-phase supply at 400 V, drawing a rated input of 31 A and delivering 24 A of continuous output current to the motor terminals. With an apparent power capability of 17 kVA, it supports machines needing up to 15 HP at 400 V and the same 15 HP rating on a 230 V Unit B configuration. The internal IGBT bridge switches at a nominal 4 kHz, while applications that demand finer current resolution can raise the carrier to 16 kHz. An inverter size code of 15 and housing form factor E set its mechanical footprint and cooling channel layout. No encoder feedback card is fitted, so speed feedback must be supplied externally if closed-loop control is required. Installation can use 10 mm² motor leads, and shielded cable runs are permitted up to 100 m without exceeding conduction losses.
Protective and thermal limits are built in. Dynamic braking can sink up to 32 A, provided the external resistor is at least 25 Ω, and short bursts of 36 A are tolerated for acceleration peaks. The line side should be guarded by a 35 A fuse, while the inverter trips at 43 A to prevent semiconductor damage. A maximum heat sink temperature of 90 °C maintains junction integrity, and continuous operation dissipates 350 W that must be removed by panel airflow or a heat plate. Sustained high-load operation requires an external braking resistor and sufficient panel cooling.
