Product Description:
The 15.F5.GBE-YA00 is an inverter drive manufactured by KEB as part of the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Installed inside a control cabinet, it converts fixed-frequency three-phase power into a variable-frequency output that allows an induction or synchronous motor to accelerate, decelerate, or maintain speed under PLC command. Within automated lines, the drive forms the electrical interface between higher-level motion commands and the mechanical load. This arrangement allows torque and speed to follow process requirements without relying on mechanical contactors or gear changes for routine control.
Its regulation strategy is open-loop flux vector control, which estimates slip and rotor flux from measured current and voltage, permitting accurate speed regulation without a resolver or Hall sensors. The power stage delivers a continuous 15 HP output for a compatible motor operating under the rated supply and load conditions. A compact E housing form factor provides fixed mounting points and fan-assisted cooling suitable for standard F5 cabinet layouts. Internally, parameters are scaled for inverter size 15, so the IGBTs, DC-link capacitors, and current-sensing components are matched to the unit’s power class. The control board has no encoder card, allowing the base configuration to operate with fewer feedback connections. Adequate cabinet clearance must be maintained around the cooling path so heat can leave the power electronics during continuous operation.
If tighter speed regulation is required, a compatible feedback module can activate the drive’s optional closed-loop mode. This mode uses motor feedback to improve speed and position control while retaining the existing inverter power stage. On a 230-volt delta supply, the inverter can provide 15 HP at 230 V, supporting lower-voltage installations that require the unit’s rated motor output. Parameter storage and keypad access allow operating values, acceleration ramps, and motor data to be adjusted for conveyors, mixers, or positioning gantries. The drive can also exchange commands with a higher-level controller, allowing operating sequences to remain coordinated with the rest of the automated system. Its cabinet-mounted design keeps power conversion, motor regulation, and control connections together in a compact assembly while leaving external machine functions under PLC control.
