The 15.F5.GBE-350A axis inverter is manufactured by KEB and belongs to the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Intended for industrial automation, the unit converts fixed mains energy into a regulated three-phase output for compatible synchronous or induction motors rated up to 15 horsepower. It operates as the speed and torque regulator for a single machine axis, supporting applications that require controlled motor operation and adjustable process speed. The device is designed for cabinet installation and interfaces with upstream controllers through standard drive inputs and outputs. This arrangement allows start, stop, direction, and speed commands to be exchanged with the machine control system.
Under normal loading, the drive supplies a rated output current of 24 A using pulse patterns switched at 4 kHz to reduce motor current ripple. When additional current is required, it can provide a maximum continuous output of 43 A while remaining within the thermal limits for housing form factor E. Motor flux is controlled by a V/F open-loop algorithm, which operates without encoder feedback while maintaining the commanded speed reference on a 400 V bus. Protection against accidental contact with internal components is provided by the IP20 enclosure. The three-phase input connects through terminals associated with inverter size code 15, providing a direct power connection within the control cabinet.
Short-duration overloads are permitted up to 150% of the rated current for the allowed operating interval. An independent trip threshold of 180% of the rated current disconnects the inverter bridge during severe current surges. The supply section accepts an AC or DC source, allowing the drive to operate from a compatible mains connection or shared DC bus. Ground-fault and short-circuit monitoring protect the power stage from leakage paths and phase faults that could damage switching components. A standard protective varnish covers the power stack, helping shield internal electronics from moisture and airborne contamination. Cabinet airflow carries heat away from the inverter during operation, so the installation must provide suitable ventilation around the housing. The drive does not include an encoder interface, which is consistent with its open-loop motor control method.
