Product Description:
The 15.F5.G1E-YP10 inverter is an AC axis drive produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency mains power into variable-frequency output, allowing a controller to regulate the speed and torque of asynchronous or synchronous motors without mechanical gear changes. In automated systems, the inverter can power pumps, hoists, positioning axes, and other motor-driven equipment that requires controlled acceleration and deceleration. Its compact format supports installation in industrial control cabinets where available panel space is limited.
The control board applies open-loop flux vector control to estimate rotor position from motor current without requiring an encoder. This control method improves dynamic torque response and supports stable motor operation across a broad speed range. The inverter has a continuous output rating of 15 HP when operated from a 230 V three-phase supply. A built-in braking transistor directs regenerated energy to an external braking resistor during rapid deceleration or operation with an overhauling load. This process helps prevent excessive DC-bus voltage when mechanical energy returns from the connected motor. The drive uses housing code E, which establishes the enclosure format used when allocating mounting space and cabinet clearances.
The encoder slot is supplied with no encoder feedback electronics, keeping signal wiring simple when estimated rotor position provides sufficient control accuracy. A compatible feedback module can be added to support optional closed-loop operation without changing the inverter’s power circuitry. Closed-loop control allows direct motor feedback to supplement the current-based estimates used during open-loop operation. The size code 15 corresponds to the drive’s applicable thermal, current, and mounting limits. Parameter structures, diagnostic functions, and terminal assignments follow the F5 Combivert platform, allowing the drive to integrate with compatible controllers and communication options used in industrial automation systems.
