The 15.F5.C1E-Y50A is an axis drive produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It supplies variable voltage and frequency to asynchronous or synchronous motors up to 15 horsepower, allowing closed-loop speed and torque regulation in conveyors, hoists, and process lines. The unit belongs to inverter size code 15 and fits the compact housing form factor E. It also includes an integrated braking transistor so regenerated energy can be routed to an external resistor instead of returning to the DC link. Its axis-drive design allows one unit to manage motor power delivery and motion-related control functions within the same enclosure.
The drive is fed by a three-phase 400 V AC/DC supply and delivers a continuous output of 11 kW at a rated phase current of 24 A. For acceleration or shock loads, the current can rise momentarily to 43 A, helping the unit handle brief demand peaks without interrupting operation. Motor flux can be modulated up to 800 Hz, providing a wide constant-power region for high-speed spindles. The drive also supports incremental encoder feedback through a dedicated interface so vector control can maintain torque at low speed. That feedback path improves regulation when the motor runs under changing load conditions.
Eight digital inputs, two analog inputs, two analog outputs, two relay outputs, two transistor outputs, and four software-configurable I/O points are scanned every 2 ms, enabling tight interaction with PLC logic. The pulse pattern is synthesized at 4 kHz, which helps reduce acoustic noise and motor heating. Startup protection includes a timed overload reserve of 150% IN, while an overcurrent threshold of 180% IN trips the drive immediately to protect the power devices. This I/O arrangement supports command signals, status reporting, and output switching without requiring separate interface hardware. The control section can therefore respond quickly to external commands and feedback changes during normal machine cycles.
